We’re in week nine of Dancing with the Stars, which means next week is the semi-final competition round. Monday night the stars will dance their individual routine and follow it up with a trio routine, which will involve a pro from the Dancing with the Stars goody bag. With an amazing night of dancing, which star will be eliminated next? Let’s review.
Corbin Bleu & Karina Smirnoff- We all know High School Musical star Corbin Bleu can dance, so it’s no surprise the Waltz came easy to him. He’s such a wonderful dancer and his Waltz was so soft and pretty. When he dances he simply takes your breath away with his elegance and charm. Carrie Ann found it dreamy and so close to perfection, Len thought it was a well done number and Bruno found it an enchanting voluptuous fluidity of movement. Bleu scored 28/30 points.
Corbin Bleu was the star of his trio Jazz dance. He was totally in his element and treated the dance as though he was on stage. You didn’t even see the girls dancing because all your focus was on him. It was a fabulous Jazz routine. Carrie Ann said it’s the best routine she’s ever seen on the show, Len said it was an ambitious routine and Bruno feels he lived up to the legacy of Bob Fosse. Bleu scored 30/30 points giving him 58 points overall for the night.
Elizabeth Berkley Lauren & Val Chmerkovskiy- TV Star Elizabeth Berkley Lauren danced an incredible Viennese Waltz. I’m aware that she’s one of the many stars this season that has dance background, but the way she’s move week after week is astonishing. Her routines are always jam packed with amazing movements and filled with so much emotion. Len said she is his choice as the top dancer of the competition, Bruno loved the contemporary touches and Carrie Ann loved how she connected with the movements. Lauren scored 26/30 points.
Elizabeth Berkley Lauren is such a powerful dancer and she proved it even more with her Salsa trio dance. She danced so well with both pros but also handled herself so well on her own. She took control of the dance and made it hers. Carrie Ann said it was her favorite dance of hers thus far, Len said it was fantastic and full of rhythm and Bruno said she danced with both pros with such ease. Lauren scored 30 points giving her 56 points overall for the night.
Leah Remini & Tony Dovalani- TV star Leah Remini danced a sexy Tango. Remini has grown into such a strong dancer and performer. She performed a passionate and sexy Tango routine, and it’s her best dance so far. Bruno thought it was a badass proper Tango, Carrie Ann is so impressed with her growth and Len said she brought the Tango flavor. Remini scored 27/30 points.
Leah Remini deserves a spot in the semi-finals after her Jive trio routine. Her routine mocked the judges and not only was it hilarious but it was such a great performance. She stayed in sync with both pro dancers throughout the routine and each dancer shined in their own way. Leah has become an incredible dancer and performer and deserves a chance at that trophy. Bruno found it the most witty dance routine he’s ever seen, Carrie Ann loved how she took control of the dance and Len loved the concept of the routine and found it fantastic entertainment. Remini scored 27 points giving her 54 points overall for the night.
Jack Osborne & Cheryl Burke- Reality star Jack Osborne danced the Viennese Waltz. This competition is sometimes about the improvement and sometimes about fan base, but if it was solely about improvement than Osborne should win. He has become such a strong and beautiful dancer. He deserved a perfect score for his Viennese Waltz. Len loved his technique, Bruno said ballroom flows out of him and Carrie Ann felt he had flair and flourish. Osborne scored 29/30 points.
You could tell Jack Osborne went completely out of his comfort zone for his trio Samba. It was an extremely corny dance, and while he was off many times, it was fun to watch. It wasn’t much of trio dance given he spent more time dancing in hold with Cheryl than both pros. It wasn’t his best dance, but it was a joy to watch. Len found the routine clever, Bruno had so much fun watching him dance and Carrie Ann was disappointed his lost technique during the dance. Osborne scored 25 points giving him a total of 54 points for the night.
Amber Riley & Derek Hough- After weeks of continuous knee injuries, Glee star Amber Riley kept it simple with her Quickstep. She always performs well, but it was a good and easy quickstep. This wasn’t her best routine, but you can only do so much with an injury. Len found she was very loose in hold, Bruno loves her performance level, but said it needs polish and Carrie Ann wants her to stay on the level she set the bar at during the beginning of the season. Riley scored 24/30 points.
Amber Riley danced the Salsa for her trio dance. I didn’t think it was that great of a dance. I felt Riley shine more out of hold then she did dancing with the boys. It was a great salsa but I thought she excelled when she was on her own. Len thought she was a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day, Bruno thinks she’s irresistible when she lets it all go and Carrie Ann is so bummed she’s injured because she wishes she could push it more. Riley scored 27/30 points giving her 51/60 points overall.
Bill Engvall & Emma Slater- The comedian has made it far, but this might just be his last week. Bill Engvall performed a not so good Charleston. His legs were extremely stiff and you can tell he struggled with this dance. Normally his performance level makes up for his lack of technique, but this time everything was bad. Carrie Ann always enjoys watching him but he was better in the package, Len said it wasn’t a good Charleston and Bruno felt he was off time. Engvall scored 21/30 points.
Bill Engvall danced an interesting Salsa for his trio routine. I’ve had so much fun watching Engvall perform these last nine weeks, and I’m so proud he’s made it this far. He always finds a way to make the routine so entertaining to make up for his lack of rhythm and technique. Bruno loved the slapstick but said his rhythm was off, Carrie Ann found the routine weird, but also agreed there was no rhythm and Len said he needs to work on his technique, but says he’s always good fun. Engvall scored 21/30 points giving him 42 points for the night.
After a strong night of competition, it’s time for another star to say goodbye. A week before the semi-finals the two stars that found themselves in the bottom two were Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and Bill Engvall. Who goes home, the comedian who scores low but entertains or the TV star that dazzles us with her amazing moves?
The next star eliminated off Dancing with the Stars is…
Elizabeth Berkley Lauren.
This show gets better and better I tell you.
Who knows what will happen during next week’s semi finals but it sure will be a great deal of fun. Tune in Monday at 8pm ET on ABC for Dancing with the Stars.
