Nope!
It's a JERUSALEM PARRY story!!!
Apparently, Miz Files is just not quite yet done with the silver-eyed sorcerer man. And who could blame her, really? I feel as happy as I did the day that I discovered that the short story in Kage Baker's collection "Mother Aegypt" that made me gasp for glee was not only NOT the only short story in that world with those characters in the collection, but was a story with THREE MORE WHOLE BOOKS taking place in that world, with those characters, those characters' progenitors, and so forth.
Mmn. Kage Baker. Kage Baker. I'm about ready to re-read you, Kage Baker.
Thank you, Gemma Files, for reminding me that I have more Kage Baker to read, and more that I haven't yet read.

"Drawn Up From Deep Places" is another novella, like "Salt Wedding," and like "Salt Wedding" is still (at least as of March 11th) looking for berth on the great ship HMS Genre-Zine. Even before reading it, I wish it fine, fair winds and following seas.
Aaaaand...
I must get back to reading it, because otherwise how will I ever know how Jerusalem Parry came to be the bastard he became? And he had such a NICE MOTHER TOO. I know, 'cause I got to meet her red-headed shade just about five minutes ago.

MISTER DOLOMANCE! THERE YOU ARE AGAIN, MY BEAUTY! Now, what have you dragged up out of the depths for your captain-creator-tormenter-warden???
Ah.
A woman.

I like all these peeks at young Jerusha.
I like Clione too, but cannot trust her.
But want to.
But cannot.
Was her mama a siren or something?
I wonder.
***
Mermaid? Succubus? What is she???
***
ANKOLEE, YOU'RE BACK! You'll fix this, won't you? You'll let us all know what's going on.
***
A thing apart, only.
POOR CLIONE!
Poor Jerusalem, but... it's really probably better this way. You deserve (and get!) a MUCH better death, no?
A sad story. A love story. Very... salt-wet. Lickable!
This whole experience wants a soundtrack.
