We come from the mountains of the sacred Gods,
vales of chirping birds and barking deer,
the cool forest shadows and dancing rivers,
from the bondage of seamless family ties,
with a heart of love and spiritual humility,
a smile of sympathy beyond the doors;
And here I am upon the vastness of the sea,
firmament embraces the horizon in its blue arms,
amidst the colossal concrete that reek of boredom,
The chorus and commotion night and day,
Faces of natives sans the greeting glee,
I watch aghast this world of strange difference!!
I long again for the mountains and rivers,
A nap under the cool serene forest canopy
for the warmth of embrace of my loved ones,
The playful everyday drama at my home,
And the cup of water from my trickling tap,
Oh! How far from the closest heart have I come
To lament on my own island!!
