The recent September holidays helped me recharge and reconnect with a long lost love. I even wrote a poem about “her”.
Oh macaron how sweet thy name
How velvety thou art
None matcheth thy delectable frame
Which brings joy to my heart
When I first set my eyes on thee
Methought thou looked most savoury
So I pestered mum but she said to me
” My dear dear lad, look at the fee!”
Alas I went home not with glee
And in great great great agony
My soul did long to be set free:
Thee in my mouth; sweet unity
For years and ages did I pine
For thee to show they face, to shine
For though my life had song and wine
Thy absence made me lose my mind
For half of decade did I wait
While all my friends around me
Said,” Go try them before it’s too late ”
I sighed,” I have no money”
But then one day there came my chance
In September on Vacation
And there I did a jig, a dance
For the macarons were on promotion
“The currency conversion’s good,”
I told my dad and mum
They said “You have been well behaved
We’ll buy you more than some”
And so that day with strength and might
I devoured all macarons in sight
And continued so till it was night
And so with rapture and delight
Did my fancy soar, did my soul take flight
With a fiery flame did my passion ignite
And only when I fell from height
And when I finally saw the light
Did it dawn upon me-my plight:
My jeans were suddenly twice as tight
After the promos, I hope to set things aright
But I will not forget my very first bite(s)
