_rbdave73dj1_hires27Delivering pretty much what we’ve come to expect from a comic book superhero series on The CW, tonight’s premiere episode of THE FLASH is lightweight, slick and features an extremely photogenic young cast. A spin-off of the popular CW series ARROW , THE FLASH is based on the DC Comics superhero originally created in 1940 by GARDNER FOX and HARRY LAMPERT. Written and produced by ANDREW KREISBERG, GEOFF JOHNS and the prolific GREG BERLANTI, the new series stars GRANT GUSTIN (GLEE) as Barry Allen, a nerdy assistant police forensic investigator who awakens from an explosion induced coma with superhuman speed. In an amusing nod to the original 1990 CBS series, JOHN WESLEY SHIPP (who played The Flash ) has been cast as Henry Allen, Barry’s father.

At a Television Critics Association press conference to promote the series, GRANT GUSTIN admitted he knew little about THE FLASH before taking on the role but has since done his homework. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
