philebrity.com Blog Archive When You Run 100 Miles, You Have ...

rockyBut don’t think that’s softened our stance on the statue, which we believe we said recently we “still loathe and in a consequence-free world would destroy with glee.” Yup, we stand by that.

Yesterday, a British man ran as fast as he could up the Art Museum steps, emulating Rocky Balboa, and undoubtedly posed at the top. That’s totally cool. He’s also allowed to refer to them as the “Rocky Steps.” Yup, totally fine. Why? because Simon Whitehouse ran up the top of the steps to cap off a 100-mile run (and bike) from New York City to Philadelphia in an effort to raise awareness for mental illness.

On Whitehouse’s blog he set up to document his training, he said he did the run because, “As little boys watching Rocky with my brother I always dreamt of being Rocky running up the legendary steps. My bro is 40 in April. He had a mental breakdown when he was 20. Mental illness has crushed half his life; and cast a huge shadow over mine. This is my present to him, a chance to raise awareness.” And according to CBS3, he was (relatively) successful. CBS said that “after he ran through Trenton he had to give up running and finish the last 20 miles on his bike,” which we totally get, dude. We’d wanna get out of Trenton as quickly as possible too. Whitehouse’s attempt to raise as much money as he could with the run for Mind – The Mental Health Charity, has succeeded in raising over $10,000, but you can read more about his story and still donate over here.

And a reminder, Let’s Raise Paulie.
