Rebel Wilson Sells Comedy Pitch To Universal That She'll Write ...

Coming off a great performance in “Pitch Perfect,” which is performing solidly in theaters at the moment, Rebel Wilson’s career looks in pretty great shape. She’s got a lead role in Miguel Arteta’s brewing indie comedy “Unicorn Store,” "Glee" star Chris Colfer’s “Struck By Lightning,” and Michael Bay’s “Pain and Gain” on her upcoming slate, and her self-penned comedy pilot “Super Fun Night” is also in development over at ABC.

As if all that isn’t enough, Wilson has now struck a deal with Universal who have picked up her untitled comedy pitch. There are very few details available on the project at the moment, but what we do know is that Wilson’s pitch is based on an original idea and that she is attached to write, produce and star. Universal distributed “Pitch Perfect” and “Bridesmaids,” and they’re clearly keen on staying in the Rebel Wilson business.

“Bridesmaids” was probably the project that kick-started Wilson’s Hollywood career (if you don’t count her Girl In Alley turn in “Ghost Rider,” that is), and since then she’s notably made her mark in “Bachelorette” and “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” It seems that once “Pain and Gain” is out of the way Wilson will have fully transitioned from supporting turns to lead roles, and then it will just be a case of delivering the goods so she can stay front and center.
