“Glee” and “Friday Night Lights” | Elyvalh

During this week, my classmates and I watched two episodes of two TV shows. The first one was an episode of “Friday Night Lights”, a sports teen drama, while the second one was an episode of “Glee”, a teen comedy-drama. Both episodes of these TV shows targeted teenagers as audience, and they were very intriguing, because they reminded me of my high school years. “The first episode focused on Eric Taylor, who was coaching a high school football team in a small town of Texas. During the first football game of the season, quarterback Jason got injured and paralyzed, after attempting a tackle. During this scene, I could see how the fans were deeply involved in the spirit of the team, and close to the athletes. The jocks were seen as heroes. In the second episode, the communities present were the jocks, the cheerleaders, the disabled, and the Glee club. The episode focused primarily on Will Schuester, the Spanish teacher and director of the Glee club New Directions at McKinley High School. Will discovers the secret talent for singing of Finn Hudson, a jock who, by the end of the episode, leads the Glee club. His passion for singing was considered a weakness by the other athletes. The episode focused also on Will’s private life. He was divided between his passion as a motivator and professor, and a possible well-paid job. At the end of the episode, he decided to follow his passion, and I firmly believe that this is the main message of the episode. No one should ever give up, and our dreams are the essence of our lives.
