Coos Bay’s Taylor Stark and Coquille’s Catreena Brewer were not able to convince the judges they were the right stuff at the Coos County Fair. Stark, whose voice seemed tailored to country, performed “Mean” by Taylor Swift and the Glee version of “Landslide.” Catreena Brewer came to perform “Butterfly Fly Away” by Miley Cyrus and Chemical Romance’s “Sing.” But in the end, the two were not able to garner enough points to continue in the competition.![]()
Top Scores came from North Bend’s Haley DeAndrea and Karissa Thomas. DeAndrea performed the Martina McBride hit “Anyway” and “Flashdance (What A Feeling).” Thomas selected the Reba classic “Why Haven’t I Heard From You” and “Mercy.” But, it was Ally Putas’ of Coos Bay’s performance of “Some Days You Gotta Dance” that brought cheers from the audience. Coos Bay’s Allie West upper range vocal acrobatics on “I Will Always Love You” drew audience applause and respect as well.![]()
The Competition continues in North Bend on Wednesday, August 1st at the North Bend Community Center. It is the first night that competitors will be able to use costumes and props as part of their performance. Stark and Brewer will continue to perform in group numbers that feature all of the contestants.![]()
