
In the midst of a dispute over wage improvements, the Colombian Sofia Vergara and her co-stars on glee have denounced to 20th Century Fox Television on the grounds that their contracts do not conform to the California law, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This battle in the courts which began this week in the Superior Court of the County of Los Angeles is a tactic, said that publication specialized in the world of the spectacle, to renegotiate their salaries on the rise now that the comedy is one of the most popular of the small screen.
According to the documentation presented, actors want to be cancelling their current contracts because they violate state regulation that prohibits personal service contracts lasting more than 7 years. In addition to Vergara, the complaint is supported by Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet.
Ed O’Neill (marriage with children), who plays the husband of Vergara in the series, did not join the denunciation of their peers in principle to receive a few salaries higher than the other members of the program, but he changed his mind at the last moment and joined the claim by solidarity.
The dispute with Fox over what each actor enters for the episode already forced them to postpone the trial of the chapters that had marked the beginning of the fourth season of Modern Family.
Six adult stars of the series currently has contracts in place until the end of the seventh season, although the renegotiations of working conditions are common between the third and the fourth season of a program in Hollywood.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vergara, Burrell, Bowen, Tyler Ferguson and Stonestreet have received an offer of $65,000 salary increase by chapter to $150,000 in the fourth season, 200,000 in the fifth, and 225,000 by the sixth and 325,000 for the seventh, an amount that is bent to make seasons 8 and 9.
