Hive Five: Our daily listicle of musical musings
50 Cent released “In Da Club” just under a decade ago. Since then, the song has soundtracked birthdays all around the globe. But outside of its reign in the people world, the Dr. Dre-produced track is also considered something of an anthem throughout the animal kingdom. Not convinced? Here is undoubted and totally undoctored proof, courtesy of your friend the Internet. Thanks to Buzzfeed for the inspiration.
1. This Squirrel
Not just one of mother nature’s greatest ever bushy-tailed creatures, it’s a little known fact the common red squirrel is an expert at getting down to “In Da Club.” Here Russia’s finest squirrel shows and proves with frenzied glee.
2. This Bear
Showcasing the type of brawn and enthusiasm Lloyd Banks could never quite muster up, this bear stakes a fine claim for official G-Unit membership.
3. This Road Lizard
In the video for 50′s “In da Club,” the rapper undergoes a physical rehabilitation to reach peak fitness. The footage presumably inspired this dinky lil’ lizard who used the song as motivation to cross a road somewhere out in the wilderness. Reports that he was on a pilgrimage to find Hot Rod’s career are as yet unconfirmed.
4. DJ Whiskers
If DJ Whoo Kid is ever officially fired from being G-Unit’s resident DJ, let it be known that DJ Whiskers is willing and waiting.
5. Cadbury Gorilla
Keeping time with the aplomb of a young Dr. Dre, what’s become known as the Cadbury Gorilla bangs along to 50′s signature track with much gusto. Bonus points for use of the hi-hat, too.
